How to Highlight Eyes With Lashes

If you long to wake up to lush, rich-looking eyelashes each morning you may be considering lash extensions. If so, we thought you might have questions. Here are some of our most frequent queries regarding lash extensions:

  1. What types of lashes are out there?

There are basically three types: synthetic, silk and mink. Synthetic is the least expensive, but silk and mink look softer and more natural. They also tend to last longer.

  2. Does it matter what kind I choose to have applied?

It really depends upon what you're looking for. It's tough to tell the difference between synthetic and silk lashes, although silk is lighter. Mink is lighter still, allowing us to apply more individual strands to a single eyelash for maximum fullness.

  3. How are they applied?

We use a special lash glue and apply them one by one or in small clusters (of 3-4) to your natural lashes.

  4. How long can I expect them to last?

They're considered semi-permanent, meaning you can expect them to last four to six weeks. As your eyelashes go through their natural growth cycle they push the extensions, causing them to fall out.

  5. Can I get them wet?

You can, but the less water they're exposed to the longer they will last. Showers are fine, but if you're a daily swimmer you may want to wear goggles.

  6. Am I going to need touchups?

Yes, most people have a "lash fill" every two to three weeks.

  7. Can lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

No, not permanently. We may suggest that you take a break from your extensions once or twice a year, to give your natural lashes a chance to "rehab." A lash-enhancing product can speed the process. Of course, if you can't bear to part with your extensions during the rehab period, those lash enhancers won't damage the extensions in the least.
